UPDATE: 5/19/12
The server migration has been completed. All data has been transferred to the new data center and servers. The IP address for the SpeedyGiant name servers has been updated to ensure proper routing from your website address to the new servers. There is no additional action needed on the part of SpeedyGiant customers.
This move will not only provide benefits of a more advanced network, but also the benefits of upgraded servers. The new server is dual core processor with hyper threading (24 cores) and is coupled with 24GB of Ram and added data and backup redundancy.
We hope you enjoy the new features and want to thank you for choosing SpeedyGiant web hosting.
UPDATE: 5/18/12 – 7:17am (pacific)
Migration of sites to new server is still in progress. Multiple servers are included in overall migration. Migration speed is slowed by current network speed of decommissioned data center (old server location) and public internet speeds. We will continue to update sgstatus.com
UPDATE: 5/17/12 – 5:00 pm (pacific)
Migration of sites to new server is still in progress. There are several servers being transferred as part of the cloister of servers.
UPDATE: 5/17/12 – 8:20 am (pacific):
Migration of data from the old servers to the new servers is continuing as planned. Some users may see a message similar to “this site has moved.” Once all sites have been transferred, the IP address will be updated and varying levels of downtime may be experienced while the name server IP address changes take effect.
UPDATE
Dear SpeedGiant customers,
The server migration from the decommissioned data center to the new and improved data center and servers has begun.
There will be no action needed on the part of our customers, unless a customer uses the server’s IP address or the server hostname for site features or coding.
The server name will change from mars.myserverhosts.com
New Server Hostname: nickfury.myserverhosts.com
New Server Main IP: 129.121.186.230
Please note that SpeedyGiant will be updating the name server IP addresses once the migration is complete. Customers will likely encounter service unavailability until the DNS information propagates (takes effect).
Please email speedygiant@gmail.com and check back at www.sgstatus.com for critical updates.
Thank you,
Matt D

SpeedyGiant customers,
Due to unexpected slow transfer rates as well as disk read rates contributed to constraints of the previous network and hardware, the migration has been postponed and is now scheduled for Thursday, May 17th.
The primary migration announcement has be updated to reflect the new migration date. The migration date changes are in order to ensure the best possible migration for our customers. We do no foresee any addition postponements. However, we will continue to post announcement on this page.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work hard to provide our customers the best service and hardware to host your websites.
Regards,
Matt D

Dear SpeedyGiant customers,
This is an important announcement regarding an upcoming server migration that will impact most websites hosted with SpeedyGiant . Due to aging hardware and the decommission of a data center, we will be migrating almost all websites to new upgraded servers and hardware.
The migration of websites from the old servers will be started on Thursday, May 17th at 12:01 AM (midnight) Eastern time and will last the entire day. When your account is migrated to the new hardware you may see a page saying “This account has moved”. This is normal and will go away once the DNS changes have fully propagated. Several servers will be migrated and a movement involving this large of an amount of data (all of your website pages, image, databases, emails, etc) over the web can take time, which is why an entire day is devoted to this move.
This move is designed to give you new and faster hardware, which will benefit our customers in many ways.
Lastly, this move does not require any action on the part of our customers, but this move will impact site availability as well as the ability for customers to send and receive emails at custom email addresses (ex: name@yourdomain.com).
We have set up an outage page to post updates as they are available. Estimated time for completion may not be readily available, but vital updates will be posted for your convenience at www.sgstatus.com. If you have any questions regarding this migration, feel free to contact us by emailing support@speedygiant.com or during the migration at speedygiant@gmail.com (Please note that speedygiant@gmail.com is only to be used during the migration. support@speedygiant.com will also be migrated, so you will need to email speedygiant@gmail.com while the sites are down).
We thank you for your patience, understanding, and for choosing SpeedyGiant web hosting.
Regards,
Matt D

Contact has been made with the Data Center and we have been informed that they are assessing the issue. The latest update is that “it will be online soon”, but we will continue to communicate with the proper personnel and keep the status page updated.

UPDATE: 5/2/2010 10:40 PM (PST):
We received an update from the Data Center (DC). Here is some of the details from the most recent update from the DC :
“At the moment we are experiencing some sort of network problem and this is interfering with traffic to and from the Houston Data Centers. The NOC is aware of the problem and we are putting all of our available resources into solving the problem. … This particular issue appears to be network related, the servers themselves do not appear affected, they just cannot reach the internet. Once network connectivity is restored, the servers should appear available then.”
We will continue to monitor this issue and post updates as they become available.
